What you are looking at is the very rare hard to find 1988 Gibson Les
Paul Custom Lite with gold hardware in the most sought after Black Beauty color
with case. If that didn’t make it rare
enough, this is one of only a couple of that had the classic four speed knob set up
carried over from 1987. Most of 1988
models only had the three knobs, which changed the classic look 🙁
This is not the reissue
– this is the original from the eighty’s!
The biggest complaint players were giving Gibson at the time was how
uncomfortable the Les Paul’s were to play.
Gibson came up with 2 ways to solve the problem with their revolutionary
1) By featuring a thinner body they retained all of the features and
sustain, but reduced the weight to only 7.8lbs.
2) They introduced a contoured back (similar to a Fender Strat) so the
guitar’s back didn’t dig into your ribs.
If your back is
dreading those 60 minute gigs, you need this guitar.
Current frets are in excellent condition as can be seen in the photos. Very fast string set up. It’s able to rip!
This guitar is not in pristine condition.
It has it’s dings, nicks, and natural wear and tear from gigging these
last 30 years (see photos). The original
speed knobs I replaced with eleven knobs (Goes to Eleven!!!).
