1979 Gibson Les Paul Custom
Original white finish is in extremely clean condition. It has aged to perfection with a yellowish/cream color now. I would say the overall finish is excellent for the age of this guitar. There is some lacquer checking on the headstock pictured, and a couple of marks on the back of the neck pictured. Some swirls on the back. The rest of the finish is remarkably clean.
The guitar comes with 2 sets of pickups. Installed in the guitar now is a Dimarzio Tone Zone in the bridge position and a Seymour Duncan ’59 in the neck. I am throwing in a pair of pickups from a late eighty’s Gibson Les Paul Custom (gold covers). Hot bridge pickup 14K output, neck pickup is around 8K output. Both pickups have the patent number stamped into the base plates, no ink date codes.
A newer gibson ABR-1 bridge and Gotoh light weight aluminium tailpiece compliment the tone of this fine piece.
I upgraded the guitar with cream pickup rings, cream switch plate, gold Top Hat Bell knobs and strap locks. I am additionally including the black plastic parts, which are newer Gibson and the original strap buttons. So you have your choices here! Included in the percent are both alternate options of parts colors. Basically this was “customized” with the best parts available, a mix of newer Gibson parts and vintage parts.
The guitar was masterfully re-fretted with jumbo frets. Absolutely zero wear on them as the guitar was rarely taken out of the case. Plays amazing. No issues.
Weight is 10 pounds 9 ounces.
No headstock repairs.
Gibson Chainsaw Case.
